Dimdim Webinar allows you to begin an online seminar with the click of a button. However, even though it is easy to use, it almost seems too simplistic when compared to services such as MegaMeeting and Cisco WebEx. It is missing some key features that would help a host create memorable web presentations. These issues, along with disappointing customer support, are why this service ranked lower than other webinar services that we reviewed.

No downloads are required to attend a webinar through Dimdim. However, if you want to share your screen, you have to install Webmeeting.exe and run it on your computer. A restart is also required. Since most web-based seminars frequently use real-time screen sharing, the host will, most likely be downloading Dimdim's software on their computer.

Dimdim Webinar also allows you to promote your presentation on social networking sites. After you create an event with them, you can post a widget on your blog, on Facebook or on Twitter. This kind of publicity will draw larger crowds to your web-based seminar. Since this service can support up to 1,000 attendees, you'll want to publicize as much as possible. In addition, the presentation can be recorded and replayed multiple times to different groups.

Once inside a webinar session you have the option to share your screen or show a presentation. Since this service does not support embedded video sharing, any videos you want to show will have to be played through sites such as You Tube or Vimeo. Webcams are supported, but only one webcam can show at a time. Usually this webcam will be used by the host, but they can pass it to someone else, if needed.

A whiteboard is also offered to help encourage participation. There is also a polling feature to get feedback from the attendees. Keeping the participants involved with the presentation is important to keep their attention. This service does not allow file transferring between users, but at the end of the meeting the host has the option to send the guests to a specific website. This can be used to direct them to the product or service that you are marketing.

On their site you will find the standard email support, telephone support and a FAQs page, found with most webinar services. Live chat is available, but it isn't easy to find. Also, it wasn't very helpful when we did find it. Our conversation with "Support4" mostly consisted of long pauses and confusing answers. It seemed at times that the customer service representative did not understand what we were saying. Plus, some of the answers we were given during our live chat session conflicted with information we found on the website.

Summary:

Aside from the negative experience with customer service, we found this to be a very adequate application. They make it easy to promote your event through social media networks. The interface is a little clumsy and simplistic when compared to other webinar services, but it will still satisfy the needs of the majority of presenters. Dimdim Webinar is a quick and easy way to create a web presentation.
